Plenty. Their visit to our flagship facility in Kawerau underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to ambitious climate targets that will shape New Zealand’s sustainable future.
During the visit, Minister Watts reaffirmed the government’s focus on two key climate goals:
- Doubling renewable energy generation by 2050.
- Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 50% below 2005 levels by 2030, in alignment with New Zealand’s Paris Agreement commitments.
Foresta is proud to play a critical role in advancing these objectives by driving sustainable energy production and reducing New Zealand’s reliance on coal.
Minister Watts outlined the government’s strategic approach to achieving these ambitious goals:
- Encouraging private investment and fostering strategic partnerships to scale innovative solutions.
- Using data and evidence to guide informed decision-making and policy development.
- Promoting international collaboration to leverage global expertise and share best practices.
- Creating resilient, competitive markets that drive sustainable growth.
At Foresta, we’re inspired by this leadership and share the belief that long-term, practical action is essential for securing a better future for generations to come.
Together with government, industry, and local communities, we can build a thriving low-emissions economy, one that delivers environmental, social, and economic benefits for all of New Zealand.
We thank Minister Watts and MP Rutherford for their visit and their continued support as we work towards these shared goals.
